Campbell Addy Engender, 2019 - NOW SHOWING @somersethouse AS PART OF THE #getupstandupnow EXHIBTION Engender explores the transition of liberation from past black LGBTQI+ artists to the current generation. In a series of stylised portraits, Addy will reflect back onto the image a character that gives rise to questions and/or answers surrounding the life of queer artists of colour. Engender will pay homage to the artists of the past who paved the way for certain types of work to be viewed in mainstream media. The work also examines key ideas in photography, such as family, gender identity, the black identity, sexuality, religion and more. - Casting @niiagency @_marie_claire Styling @raphaelhirsch Model @lookingfortettey MUA @ammydrammeh Set Design @jabezbartlett Hair @issacvpoleon Photo assistance @lucasbullens @wilbertlati @clmagency #clmagency

3. KYLE WEEKS

Initially from Namibia, South Africa, Weeks has emerged as a photographer to enjoy after being admitted into the highly selective Red Hooks Lab show this previous year

.4. VALERIE CHIANG

Chiang’s Instagram reads like an archive paying homage to a skilled photographer from long back. It is difficult to believe she’s just a couple of years on the scene.

5. RYAN JAMES CARUTHERS

As a professional photographer, Caruthers ‘strength lies in his ability to visualize highly photographed and of-the-moment celebrities in brand new methods.

6. STUART WINECOFF

Much better known as a director of photography, working for filmmakers like Gordon Von Steiner, Miles Jay, and Bardia, Winecoff has become an artist in his own right- most just recently shooting a casual forty-five page spread for Style Ukraine.

Had to repost. Vogue Ukraine’s September Issue 45 page Cover Story. I could not feel more grateful to be asked back to Ukraine to shoot @iamlulu_nyc along with the local youth for their Kyiv issue and my first print cover. I could not have done it without the help of an incredible team. 7. THURSTAN REDDING

Redding’s work sees gender for what it is: fluid. His characters contradict the binary as they bend their muscles while using dresses and eyelash extensions.

8. JULIE GREVE

Few professional photographers can take an anonymous face and make it look iconic. No surprise Greve was just recently handpicked by JW Anderson to shoot the brand’s Spring 2019 project.

9.LUIS ALBERTO RODRIGUEZ

Rodriguez trained as a dancer at Julliard before turning to fashion photography. While his topics don’t plié, they’re magnificently choreographed in manner ins which talk to Rodriguez’s distinct past.

10. LINDSAY ELLARY

Ellary’s work feels directly motivated by Baroque painters, casting each of her subjects in caravaggio-esque light. Accordingly she’s crafted a special visual that’s strikingly consistent and well deserving of commission.
