Penélope Cruz, Antonio Banderas, and Pedro Almodóvar Reunited on the Red Carpet
Now that it’s been a couple of months given that the Cannes Movie Celebration, it’s safe to state that this year’s edition was all about Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, whose massive cast– including, of course, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio– easily controlled the red carpet. Amongst those who were somehow avoided were Penélope Cruz and Antonio Banderas, who lastly got the possibility to take the spotlight on Thursday, at the U.K. premiere of Discomfort and Splendor with its cherished director, Pedro Almodóvar . Discomfort and Glory— or, in Spanish, Dolor y gloria– stars Banderas as Salvador Mallo, an aging director looking back at his life’s work, and Cruz as Jacinta, his mom. In case you couldn’t inform by the reality that Banderas’s hair is uncharacteristically spiky in the trailer, the movie is semi-autobiographical, and most definitely Almodóvar’s the majority of personal yet. Fittingly, then, it also marks an unique event of sorts for Almodóvar fans: Discomfort and Magnificence marks the first union of two of his longtime muses playing lead functions on-screen. (Banderas, who first worked with Almodóvar in 1982, took house Best Star for the role at the Cannes Movie Festival, where Pain and Magnificence was also in the running for the Palme d’Or.) As it turned out, Almodóvar brought a bit of the Cannes Film Celebration with him to London; he stepped out onto the red carpet on Thursday night using the specific same tartan match and hot pink turtleneck that he did in May, when socializing with Carla Bruni and Bella Hadid.
This time, in London, Cruz signed up with Almodóvar in going with pink. Instead of a turtleneck, she wore a sequined Ralph & & Russo couture gown that came total with a rows of white ostrich feathers, which may or may not have actually been a nod to Almodóvar’s notoriously fluffy hair.
Great STYLE from the three of them. And Penelope looks just lovely!
